Discover Monet through colour, light and short dabs of paint. Children build a water-lily pond in dabbed marks, then float lily pads and paper flowers on the surface, and take the finished piece home. A 90-minute Sunday workshop for ages 8 to 12. All materials are provided and no previous art experience is needed.
Our mission
Art should be something children do, not just something they look at.
Each workshop begins with a different artist, then gives children the materials and guidance to respond in their own way. They create alongside other children in a group of no more than eight, with no previous art experience expected. To keep every session welcoming, well supervised and clearly organised for families:
- A maximum of eight children, with a team member present throughout
- Current Working with Children Checks for everyone working with the group
- Emergency contacts, allergies and medical needs collected before the first session
- A first aid kit kept on site
- Children released only to the people named on their enrolment form
What they’ll make

Monet returned to the same garden and pond in different light and seasons. His work helps children notice how colour, reflection and repeated marks can change a scene.
How the session runs
A short introduction to Claude Monet, his work and the idea behind the day’s project.
Children lay in the water in short dabs of colour, with the paint and tools already set out for them.
Add the lily pads and the paper flowers, then look at what the group has made and prepare the piece to take home.

A different artist runs each Sunday, and each one is a complete session on its own.
Plans change. Tell us 24 hours ahead and we will move your child to another Sunday or refund you in full.
Afterwards there is a short enrolment form for allergies and emergency contacts. Once per child, then you are done.
A look inside the workshops
Good to know
My child has no art experience. Is that okay?
Yes. No previous art experience is needed. We introduce the artist and project clearly, then children can interpret it at their own level.
My child can be shy in a new group.
Please let us know on the enrolment form. Sessions are limited to eight children, and a member of our team remains with the group throughout.
Is it suitable for mixed ages?
Yes. The project stretches, so younger children work more simply and older children take it further. It works as well at eight as it does at twelve.
Will it be messy? What should they wear?
There is paint on this one, dabbed on in short marks. Please dress your child in clothes that can take a mark. We cover the tables and keep water and cloths within reach.
How large is the group?
A maximum of eight children. This keeps the group settled and gives the team time to support children as they work.
Do parents stay?
Parents do not need to stay for the session. You are welcome to settle your child before leaving and return for collection at 12.30pm.
What if my child has allergies or additional needs?
Please include these details on the enrolment form before their first session. If you would like to discuss your child’s needs before booking, email info@lavitanova.com.au.
What does it cost, and how do I pay?
$55 per child, covering all materials and tools, and the finished artwork to take home. You book and pay in full through Square, and your place is confirmed once payment is complete.
Can we book another artist?
Yes. A different artist usually runs each Sunday, and Claude Monet returns later in the series, on 8 November. Every Sunday is booked separately, with no term or series commitment.
What if we cannot make it on the day?
Cancel at least 24 hours before the session and we will move your child to another Sunday, subject to availability, or refund the booking in full. Bookings cancelled within 24 hours are not refundable. If your child is unwell, contact us with as much notice as possible and we will move the booking at no charge.
