La Vita Nova respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and your rights. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

La Vita Nova is a creative studio, gallery and event venue at 51a Grosvenor Street, South Yarra, Victoria 3141, Australia. If you have any questions about your privacy, email us at info@lavitanova.com.au.
We only collect personal information we reasonably need. Depending on how you engage with us, this may include your name, email address, phone number, and the details you give us about a booking or event, such as your preferred date, number of guests and what you have in mind. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. The one place we ask for sensitive information is our children’s program enrolment form, where we need allergies and medical needs so we can look after your child properly; that is covered separately below. Otherwise we do not ask for sensitive information, and we ask that you do not send it to us through the website.
We collect information directly from you when you book, complete an enquiry or enrolment form, join our newsletter, email us, or otherwise get in touch. Bookings and payments are processed through Square, which collects your details under its own privacy terms and shares your booking details with us. Enquiry and newsletter forms on this website are processed through our hosting provider, Netlify. Our children’s program enrolment form is on this website, is processed the same way, and the information goes only to us. Where a workshop or event is run by a visiting provider and ticketed through a third party such as Eventbrite, that provider collects your information under its own terms and may share booking details with us.
Where a child attends one of our programs, we ask a parent or guardian to give us the child’s name and age, emergency contacts, any allergies, medical conditions or medications, who is authorised to collect them, and anything else that helps us look after them well. We treat this as sensitive information. It is seen only by the people running the session, it is used only to keep your child safe and comfortable, and we do not share it with anyone else except where we need to in an emergency or where the law requires it. We keep it while your child is attending sessions and for twelve months afterwards, then delete it. You can ask to see it, correct it or have it deleted at any time by emailing info@lavitanova.com.au. Where we hold health information we also handle it in line with the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic).
Photographs of children. We only photograph or publish images of a child where a parent or guardian has given written consent in advance, and we ask separately about images we send privately to you and images we may publish. You can withdraw consent at any time and we will remove the images from anywhere we control.
Card payments are processed by Square. We do not see or store your full card number. Where you hire the studio on a collaboration or credit basis, we may hold a payment method securely on file through Square as security for the booking, with your written authority, and we will always tell you before anything is charged to it.
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, prepare quotes, manage and confirm your booking, run the event or program, and keep you informed about it. With your consent, we use your email to send you occasional updates about what’s on. We also use information in an aggregated way to understand and improve our spaces and events.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed to provide our services, for example with Square, who handle our bookings and payments, and with other trusted service providers who host our website and forms, send our emails or handle ticketing, and where we are required to by law. Some of these providers may store data on servers outside Australia; where that is the case, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled appropriately.
Our website may use a small number of cookies and basic analytics to help the site work and to understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Turning them off should not stop you from using the main features of the site.
We only send marketing emails to people who have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us. We will action opt-out requests promptly.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure, and to destroy or de-identify it when we no longer need it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. Email info@lavitanova.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify your identity first.
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first at info@lavitanova.com.au so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown above.
