Launch night · The story

A new life begins

Our launch night. Low light, a harpist in front of the curtains, and the work of our first resident artist, Tenaya, on the walls. This is the night the doors opened, and a fair picture of what an evening here looks like.

For most of a year La Vita Nova was a lease, a floor plan and a lot of conversations. On this night people walked through the door for the first time.

We opened with an artist

It mattered that the first thing in the room was work and not a party. Tenaya, our first resident artist, hung a series that asks you to look at the world the way he does. People went to it before they went anywhere else, stopped, talked about it, and came back for a second look later on. The lights stayed low, a harpist played in front of the curtains, and the room settled at the pace we had hoped for.

Then the room took over

As the evening went on, people who had arrived separately ended up in the same conversations in front of the same painting. Nobody was in a hurry to leave.

None of this was one person’s doing. Our team, the artists, and the people who backed the idea when it was still only an idea were all in the room. Thank you for coming.

That is what the space is for. A gallery through the day and a room for people at night, with an artist’s work on the walls either way, whether the occasion is an exhibition, a shoot, a long dinner or a launch of your own.
